Before you start
Who is KoopAI for?
For runners preparing for an ultra who want a training plan, feedback and ongoing guidance. Whether you're working toward your first ultra or racing near the front, KoopAI builds around your training history, goals and the time you have.
What is the coaching based on?
Jason Koop's coaching methodology, built over decades of working with ultrarunners. KoopAI draws on Training Essentials for Ultrarunning, KoopCast, his articles and a knowledge base that includes endurance research and other experts. That knowledge informs the programming, workout evaluations and training conversations.
Will Jason Koop coach me personally?
Your day-to-day coaching comes from an AI coach built around Jason's knowledge and methods. It creates your program, evaluates your workouts and answers training questions. Jason stays closely involved in special cases and situations the AI needs help handling. Our team consults with him to work through those cases and uses his guidance to keep improving KoopAI.
What happens when I miss training?
Tell your AI coach what happened and what time you have available. It can help adjust the plan with your race goal in view. Your completed training and your feedback give that conversation context.
What kind of feedback do I get?
Workout evaluations compare your run with the plan, using the data available: duration, intensity, normalized pace, pacing consistency and elevation gain per distance. Add how the run felt to give the numbers context. A weekly report helps you review your training and discuss what to do next with your AI coach.
What races is it best suited to?
Ultramarathons, especially mountain ultras and 100-mile races such as Western States and UTMB. That's where Jason has the deepest coaching experience. The method also extends to 200-mile races. Backyard ultras and unusual formats draw on a smaller part of his knowledge base.
When should I look for other support?
KoopAI focuses on ultrarunning training. It doesn't replace injury assessment, rehabilitation or the individual attention of a human coach. If you need that support, work with a qualified professional. Shorter road and track races aren't its specialty.
